Continuous monitoring pulse oximeters are typically used for long period (1 hour or more) oxygen (SpO2) and heart rate measuring. Continuous pulse oximeters can be used for spot checks (quick readings), sleep studies and constant monitoring. Continuous oximeters come in ring, wrist, hand held and tabletopconfigurations.
SELECTING THE RIGHT CONTINUOUS PULSE OXIMETER
Continuous monitoring oximeters come in ring, wrist, hand held or tabletop configurations. Finger/Ring oximeters- attach to the finger like a ring. Finger/Ring oximeters are designed to record oximetry data and have vibration alarms
Wrist oximeters- attach to the wrist with a sensor to the finger. Since there are no wires, wrist oximeters are great for sleep studies (recording oxygen and heart rate during sleep), used during activities and monitoring when wires are not practical.
Hand Held oximeters - are battery powered andhave optional configurable alarms (for SpO2 and heart rate), multiple sensor options (disposable, wrap/bandage, soft "rubber boot", ear clip).
Tabletop/Bedside oximeters - are plug-in powered and have battery back-up for portable monitoring. All tabletop oximeters have configurable alarms and multiple sensor options (disposable, wrap/bandage, soft "rubber boot", ear clip).
