Forehead Pulse Oximeters
FOREHEAD PULSE OXIMETER INFORMATION
A pulse oximeter with forehead probe can be used on the forehead region of a patient. Forehead sensors require a pulse oximeter.
Hand held pulse oximeters with forehead sensor or
table top oximeters have the ability to measure oxygen saturation and heart rate from the forehead. Forehead oximeter sensors are most commonly used when a patient has poor blood circulation in the fingers, toes or ears.
Forehead oximeters can be used for either
spot checks or
continuous monitoring.
The forehead sensor is applied using either stickers (
Nonin 8000R) or with a
head band. Turner Medical offers forehead sensors sold individually or packaged with an oximeter. If multiple sensors are listed with the product, make sure you select the correct forehead sensor.
Reynaud's Syndrome is a common condition where a standard pulse oximeter that takes readings off the finger won't work. An forehead oximeter has been very effective in obtaining accurate readings from the forehead for people with Reynaud's Syndrome.
